Стихотворение. Было опубликовано в 2005 году.
I do have worlds enough and time
to spare an hour to find a rhyme
to take a week to pen an article
a day to find a rhyme for ‘particle’.
In many worlds my time is free
to spend ten minutes over tea
And steal the time from some far moon
so words can take all afternoon,
Away beyond the speed of light
I’ll write a novel in one night.
Aeons beckon, if I want ‘em…

Совсем маленький рассказик, опубликованный в книге "The Drabble
Project" (Грязный Проект). Книга была издана в 1988 году Birmingham
University Science Fiction Society и представляла собой сборник
коротких научно-фантастических рассказов разных авторов. Особенностью
этих рассказов являлось то, что каждый рассказ включал в себя ровно 100
слов. Было выпущено только 1000 экземпляров этой книги. В 2004 году
рассказ Терри Пратчетта был напечатан в его сборнике "Once More* *with
footnotes".
The physics of magic is this: no magician, disguise it as he might, can achieve a result beyond his own physical powers¹.
And, spurned, he performed the Rite of Tumescence and called up a fiend from the depths of the Pit to teach her a lesson she wouldn't forget, the witch.
The phone rang.
"Nice try," she said, "It's sitting on the bedhead now."
His breath quickened. "And?"
"Listen," she said.
And he heard the voice of the fiend, distant and wretched:
"...frightfully sorry ... normally, no problem ... oh god, this has never happened to me before..."
